Introduction to Kiln Forming Glass; workshops

Location: Revolution Gallery, Kingston, Jamaica

Funded by: the European Union & the Government of Jamaica

Organised by: Visual & Performing Arts Jamaica in association with Charmaine Thompson & Revolution Gallery

Louise held fusing and slumping workshops, along side Britain's finest Master Glass Painter and ex-colleague Norman Attwood who taught traditional painting on glass. They also appeared on CVM at Sunrise, Jamaica TV!

There was a diversity of attendees including students, employees, retired people and renowned Jamaican artist Laura Facey.

'As organisers of the programme, Visual and Performing Arts Jamaica was pleased with the quality of the workshops. All participants were required to complete an evaluation form at the end of their workshops, and they were overwhelmingly appreciative of the knowledge displayed by Ms. Watson, and her very participative teaching style. In fact the most common request was that the VPAJ stage another series of workshops - building on what was conveyed and learnt in the series - and that Ms. Watson be invited to conduct these! We heartily recommend her services.'

Trevor Fearon, Facilitator.

In addition to working and teaching in Jamaica, Louise has taught on The National Art & Design Saturday Club program set up by the Sorrell Foundation at Leeds College of Art, Yorkshire, carried out inpatient Art and Creative Writing Workshops at the Mental Health Unit, Stepping Hill Hospital, Stockport, led community workshops at Rusholme Health Centre, Manchester and taught on the 3DD Foundation Course module at Central Saint Martins, London.
